Skin renews itself constantly, but with age, acne, sun or stress the process slows down: the surface becomes uneven and dull, and pigment spots and post-acne marks appear. A peel helps speed up renewal and improve skin texture. At UKRMED peels are done in the cosmetology department, on their own or together with a facial cleansing.
Cosmetologist consultation
The cosmetologist will assess your skin, choose a peel and plan the course.

A chemical peel is the application of active substances, most often acids, that loosen the bonds between dead cells and stimulate renewal and collagen production (the protein that keeps skin firm). It is not "stripping" the skin: modern superficial peels work gently, with minimal or no visible flaking.
A review of current practice describes chemical peel treatment as effective for acne, uneven tone, pigmentation and photoageing (skin ageing caused by the sun) when the depth and product are chosen correctly.
Salicylic peel dissolves in sebum, penetrates pores and clears them. A good chemical peel for acne, oily skin and enlarged pores.
Azelaic peel is anti-inflammatory and evens tone. It is often chosen for sensitive skin, post-acne marks and pigmentation.
Lactic peel gently moisturises and renews the skin and suits dry and sensitive skin.
These superficial peels are done as a course; each session is short and does not disrupt your routine.
PRX-T33 is a dermal stimulator (a product acting in the deeper skin layer, the dermis) based on trichloroacetic acid (a strong acid that triggers skin renewal), hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid (it lightens pigment spots). It works in deeper layers and stimulates renewal with almost no visible peeling. It suits loss of firmness, dull complexion, enlarged pores and post-acne. A course gives the best effect, and UKRMED has a separate per-session price for it.
BioRePeel is a peel based on trichloroacetic acid with biorevitalising ingredients (substances that hydrate and nourish the skin). It renews and hydrates the skin with minimal downtime.
APPeex is another peel in the clinic's range; the cosmetologist will advise whether it suits your skin.
Pregnancy, active inflammation or cold sores in the area, damaged skin, a fresh tan, allergy to ingredients. The cosmetologist will go through the full list.
Acid peels combine well with treatments that hydrate and restore the skin, such as bioreparation (injections of skin-restoring products). Deep post-acne scars need other methods, see scar correction.
