UKRMED provides pediatric dentistry in Kyiv for children of different ages—from toddlers with their first baby teeth to teenagers with an almost fully developed bite. A visit may begin with treatment, but it does not have to. Sometimes the useful result of the first appointment is simply that the child meets the dentist and allows a proper examination. The consultation price is UAH 500.
A child stops at the treatment-room door and refuses to go any further. Defiance? Usually, the explanation is less simple. Perhaps an earlier visit hurt. Perhaps the sounds are unfamiliar. Or nobody has told the child what will happen once the chair begins to move.
The first appointment can therefore be deliberately uneventful. A conversation. A look at the small mirror. A chance to touch the suction tip and hear its sound before it enters the mouth. If the child is already tired or frightened, completing the examination and leaving treatment for another day may be the sensible choice.
A psycho-emotional adaptation appointment at UKRMED costs UAH 700. It may be useful before the first procedure or after an unsuccessful experience elsewhere.
A cavity does not necessarily begin with a dark hole or toothache. The first clue on a baby tooth might be a dull patch close to the gum. Sometimes it is only a fine shadow in a chewing groove—something a parent could easily pass over while brushing. Meanwhile, the child eats normally and says nothing hurts.
Other clues are harder to miss. The child suddenly chews on one side, avoids cold water or complains after sweets. Night pain needs attention. So do a swollen patch of gum, persistent bad breath, recurring mouth ulcers and a tooth that has turned grey after a fall.
Eruption can raise questions too. Is the baby tooth still firm while the permanent one appears behind it? Is there too little room in the dental arch? Do the jaws meet unevenly? A children’s dentist will assess the situation and, where appropriate, recommend a pediatric orthodontist.
A primary tooth is temporary, but not useless. It still chews breakfast, helps the child pronounce words and holds a place for the adult tooth developing underneath. The trouble is that the tooth’s natural replacement date means nothing to bacteria. They can reach the pulp much earlier, bringing pain and inflammation with them.
There is a large practical difference between treating a tiny spot and rebuilding a missing wall. The dentist first removes the decayed tissue, then looks at what remains. Material choice comes afterwards and depends partly on whether the area can be kept dry enough during placement.
For a baby tooth restored with glass ionomer, the listed charge is UAH 1,200. Light-cured material is priced differently according to the clinical workload: UAH 1,300 for the first complexity level and UAH 1,500 for the second. A larger restoration begins at UAH 1,600. Work on a front baby tooth is listed at UAH 2,000.
A filling repairs the crown; it cannot solve an infection that has already entered the pulp. At that point, the dentist checks more than the visible hole. Root condition, inflammation around the tooth and the expected date of natural replacement all influence the decision to treat or remove it.
During pediatric root canal treatment, the canals are cleaned, prepared and filled with a material suitable for primary teeth. Filling one root canal costs UAH 1,000. Root canal treatment of a baby tooth affected by pulpitis is priced from UAH 800 for the relevant stage.
After canal treatment, very little of the original crown may remain. Building another large filling on thin walls is not always dependable. The alternative may be a ready-made crown made for primary teeth. UKRMED lists the metal version at UAH 2,000 and the zirconia option at UAH 3,500.
Early extraction is not a preventive shortcut. A primary tooth that can still function comfortably is worth considering for treatment.
Sometimes too little of the crown is left to rebuild. In other cases, inflammation remains near the root or the baby tooth stands in the way of its permanent successor. These are among the reasons an extraction may be proposed. The area is numbed with local anaesthetic, and baby tooth removal at UKRMED costs UAH 1,300.
Timing matters after an early extraction. If neighbouring teeth have years to move into the empty space, the permanent tooth may later have less room to erupt. Whether that gap needs a space maintainer is decided from the child’s age, the position of the permanent tooth and the likely timing of its eruption—not by default.
Brushing can be thorough and still miss one awkward place: the narrow grooves of a newly erupted molar. Some are simply too fine for the bristles to reach. Plaque remains at the bottom, out of sight, although the visible surface may look clean.
Fissure sealing covers these grooves with a protective dental material. Before placing it, the dentist checks that the surface is free from decay. Fissure sealing costs UAH 1,300 per tooth.
Professional dental cleaning for children with primary or mixed dentition costs UAH 1,400. The appointment is also a chance to show the child and parents which areas are routinely missed during brushing.
A stricter conversation is rarely the answer. The child may benefit from adaptation or one brief attempt without a long procedure. A treatment attempt at UKRMED costs UAH 650.
If several teeth are affected, anxiety is pronounced or the child has particular medical needs, sleep dentistry may be discussed. It requires a dental plan and a separate anaesthesiologist assessment. Medical sleep is not prescribed automatically just because a young patient feels nervous.
The final amount depends on what has happened to the tooth and how it needs to be restored. A small cavity and a badly damaged tooth with infected canals are not comparable jobs.

Many parents think that it is not necessary to treat milk teeth. However, this is not the case. The fact is that an infection begins to multiply at the place of an untreated baby tooth, that is, it becomes a source of infection. As a result, there may be problems with the root tooth. In addition, with the early removal of milk teeth, there is a risk of distortion of the dentition.

In this case, the specialist will be able to monitor whether milk and molar teeth are growing correctly, whether the bite is forming correctly, whether caries is not starting to develop. In addition, thanks to such preventive visits, the child will be able to get used to the dentist and stop being afraid of him. And therefore, if treatment is necessary, she will feel more confident.
The first teeth are enough reason for a brief introduction to the dentist. Treatment may not be needed at all. Instead, the appointment can be used to examine the enamel, see how eruption is progressing and sort out everyday questions about feeding, toothpaste and brushing technique.
It may remain small for a while or continue towards the pulp. Once the inner tissue becomes inflamed, pain and more extensive treatment can follow. A tooth lost years too early may also leave less space for the permanent tooth.
Local anaesthetic is used when it is required. The child’s experience depends on the depth of the cavity and how ready they are for the procedure. The dentist explains the planned steps before starting.
Usually when the remaining walls are too weak or too limited to support a dependable filling. This can happen after extensive decay or root canal treatment. Rather than rebuilding another fragile wall, the crown surrounds what remains and keeps the baby tooth usable until it is naturally replaced.
Pressure rarely improves the first experience. It is better to arrange an adaptation visit, allow the child to meet the dentist and avoid planning complicated work immediately. If ordinary appointments still do not work, other options—including medical sleep—can be considered.
