Thread Lift in Kyiv

A thread lift is a non-surgical facelift using threads inserted under the skin through a fine cannula. Barbed threads hold sagging tissue in a new position, and a collagen framework gradually forms around them. At UKRMED Cosmetology, the decision to place threads is made only after an examination: the doctor assesses how much the tissues have descended, any asymmetry and what treatments you have had before.

Thread lift Kyiv — book a consultation

The doctor will assess your tissues and explain whether threads will give the result you want.

What face threads are

Threads are made of absorbable materials: polydioxanone, polylactic acid, polycaprolactone. There are smooth threads (to improve skin quality) and barbed or coned threads (for lifting). There are no incisions or stitches — only puncture points that heal within days.

What the research says

Realistic expectations matter. A 2018 systematic review published in the journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons concluded that there is no convincing evidence of long-term effectiveness and that in most studies the lifting effect was limited in time. A 2026 meta-analysis of more than 2,800 patients found that swelling (34%), bruising (26%), palpable or visible threads (10%) and skin dimpling (7%) are common after the procedure. Most are temporary, but you should know about them in advance.

So thread lifting is a solution for moderate changes and a short- to medium-term effect, not a replacement for surgical facelift.

Who a thread face lift suits

  • early tissue descent at 35–50;
  • mild loss of jawline definition, early jowls;
  • descent of the brows or midface;
  • patients not ready for surgery.

It works best with thin to medium skin and a small amount of excess tissue. With marked sagging and thick skin, threads will not deliver the expected result — the doctor will tell you honestly.

The procedure

  1. Consultation, tissue assessment and planning of lift vectors.
  2. Marking and local anaesthesia.
  3. Threads inserted with a cannula through small punctures.
  4. Contour shaping and symmetry check.

The procedure takes 40–90 minutes depending on the number of threads.

Recovery

Swelling, bruising, a pulling sensation and mild asymmetry are possible for the first days. To keep the threads in place:

  • for two to three weeks, avoid opening your mouth very wide and chewing hard food;
  • sleep on your back with your head slightly raised;
  • avoid facial massage, saunas and intense exercise for two to three weeks;
  • plan dental treatment that requires wide mouth opening with your doctor.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, inflammation or infection in the area, active autoimmune disease, bleeding disorders, a tendency to keloid scars and permanent fillers in the area. Tell the doctor about all medicines and previous treatments.

Threads or another treatment

Threads lift tissue but do not add volume or relax muscles. Another method or a combination often gives a better result:

Thread types and how long they last

  • PDO (polydioxanone) — the most common threads, absorbed the fastest.
  • PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) and PCL (polycaprolactone) — absorbed more slowly and stimulate collagen more strongly.
  • Smooth (mono) threads — to improve skin quality, without lifting.
  • Barbed or coned threads — to lift tissue.

How long a thread takes to dissolve is not the same as how long the lift lasts. A systematic review found that the lifting effect is limited in time in most studies, while collagen stimulation gives only mild skin tightening. That is why the doctor chooses threads for the task, not by brand.

Sometimes. According to a 2026 meta-analysis, threads are palpable or visible in about 10% of cases. It usually settles on its own; occasionally a thread is removed.

It depends on the thread type, skin condition and age. A systematic review found that the effect of most threads is limited in time, so expect months rather than years.

No. Threads help with moderate changes; with marked sagging, surgery is more effective.

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. Tightness and tenderness may last a few days.

Once the swelling has settled — after two to four weeks.
